It is the period when supplementary food is introduced to the new in addition to the mother's milk generally after 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding is the right time to start weaning it is also called as supplementary food it is the gradual process of shifting the baby’s nutrition from mother's milk to the food after the age of 6 months mothers milk alone is not sufficient to meet the nutritional needs of the newborn baby and sustain the growth

 


Baby's cal need is 110 - 125 ml/ kg of weight n the fluid requirement is 150 to 175 ml per kg of body weight need for minerals like Iron is to be fulfilled by weaning.

We start weaning which is the semi-solid food that contains proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fibers knowledge regarding this is crucial as it is the most important period of nutrition in child development it takes if taken care of properly we can save our baby from protein-energy malnutrition, iron deficiency, vitamin deficiency

4) in the third week one more feed can be added.

5) at the end of 1 month after starting weaning 4 different feeds a day should be given at the interval of around 4 hours  

6) make sure that the bedtime feed is not too heavy as the digestion process slows down at night.

7) by the age of 1 year it is necessary for the baby to learn to eat as parents.( in less quantity obviously.)
